Could rash on back be herpes?

Is it possible to have herpes when the blister, rash, (whatever it is) has only ever been on the lower back/upper buttocks area? I have showed this reoccuring thing that I get in basically the same spot for years to several doctors, and none have ever suggested it was herpes, (spider bite, allergic reaction to medications, ring worm, were what I was told) One of them even touched it with his bare hand, so herpes wasn't something I even considered until I started researching on line. I usually will get it if I go to a tanning booth for too many sessions, or just out of nowhere twice a year or so. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

yes this could be herpes in that area. I suggest getting a type specific herpes igg blood test to see what your status is and go from there.

I'd say yes this is Herpes particularly when you say it appears after tanning that is pretty typical of Herpes as UV lights can trigger an outbreak,I have HSV2 and mine is only a very tiny blister or two on my lower back I have never had a genital outbreak of any kind so what you say here sounds exactly the way mine presents itself, I had the little blisters cultured one time mainly out of curiousity on my part wanting to know what had caused this to appear twice in a year, Herpes was the furthest thing from my mind to be honest, but thats exactly what it turned out to be despite like you being told by my Doctor a year peviously it was nothing to worry about.......
