1) How confident should be on the reliability of IGG testing?
2) What are the odds that my IGG tests are negative even after 40 wks and that I would still have geneital herpes (1 or 2)
3) Would you suggest Western Blot ?
4) Is it possible to always test negative on Herpes IGG tests but still be infected with Herpes 1/2?
5) Would you suggest repeating Herp IGG 1 & 2 1 year post last sexual encounter?

Wow, quite the unpleasant history,  I'm so sorry you are having all this trouble.

1)  I think you should believe the IgG test results, yes, you have so many that are consistent.
2) Very low odds that these are all wrong.
3)  I would suggest the western blot only if it would help you finally believe that you don't have genital herpes.  And we order many just for this reason.  Peace of mind is a very good thing.
4) It is still possible to be infected and have negative IgG tests, but to have so many negative results and still be infected seems unlikely.  The test isn't as good for HSV 1 as it is for HSV 2, but HSV 1 would not be causing all these problems, I don't believe.  Plus you also have negative swab tests.
5) NO!  If the IgG tests are missing it this far out, they will likely always miss it.

Basically, you are asking me the same question several times in different ways.  Right?  If you need more reassurance, I would get the western blot and call it good.

Have any bacterial cultures been taken from your genital area?

You can get a western blot in one of two ways right now:
1) you can contact the University of Washington directly to get a test kit sent to you.  You will have your blood drawn locally and send it to UW for testing
2) Our clinic can order the test for you to be drawn at a local lab in your area and be sent to UW.  Westover Heights Clinic.

I think you should do it to be clearer about your situation.

Terri,

Thank you for your professional opinions.

Yes, it seems I asked you the same question several times in a different way.  I am desperate for a diagnosis.  If my symptoms are not related to genital herpes, then was it the cause.  Also, if my symptoms are related to genital herpes, then which type of HSV do I have on my genital area.

Yes, I have been tested for bacterial infections on two separate visits when I had vulvar symptoms which were negative.  I also had 3 PCR swabs  that were negative for std's (incl herpes).

I also had an opinion consultation with a different gyn who told me my symptoms now are related to vulvodynia secondary to the cryofreeze of my vulva.

I would appreciate getting a Western Blot drawn.  How would I go about this?

Any insight that you would be able to provide me is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
