Delayed Primary Outbreak

I have had traces of Simplex 1 in my past two STD tests, which were spread out over the course of a year or so, but never any signs or symptoms.  Two months ago I had unprotected sex with a girls who has also had Simplex 1 traces for over 5 years, and her doctor said that it was unlikely that she would ever see any signs or symptoms.  After our last romp about a week ago I noticed sensitivity on my penis, and then sores broke out under my foreskin.  They are extremely painful and annoying to the point that it hurts to put them under water and wash them.  The sex we had was very rough and she wasnt very wet, and furthermore she ended up having a yeast infection a few days later around the same time that these sores came to be.

Could this be Genital Simplex 1, or a yeast infection.  I am currently waiting to get my results back from my doctor, and plan on heading in to get these sores looked at this week.  It seems very weird that having sex with someone with the same type would cause this breakout after having it for over a year.

Thoughts?

you absolutely can not be diagnosed as to type and even herpes this way!!!

honestly herpes antivirals do not heal herpes lesions in 24 hours.

You still have no answers at all.   definitely should you get a return of symptoms, follow up with a lesion culture and typing. accept no further visual diagnosis of herpes like this.

I did not have a culture test done.  He diagnosed me right away when looking at the sores, and hearing my sexual history that I stated above.

I took two doses of 2 grams of Valtrex, 12 hours apart.  The sores are almost completely healed and it has only been about 24 hours since my last dosage.

I guess if, or when the lesions come back I will be sure to get the culture test done to confirm, although I cant imagine it was anything else by the way it reacted to the meds.

did you have a lesion culture of the sores done which came back as hsv1+?

yes valtrex is how you treat hsv1 regardless of the location.

I went in to get the sores looked at and they diagnosed me with Simplex 1 in my genital area.  They put me on 2 grams of Valtrex every 12 hours right away to clear the initial outbreak, so I'm just waiting to see when they clear up.

He then told me to stop taking the meds until I feel another outbreak coming on.  If a pattern occurs, he suggested going on supressive regiment of the Valtrex.

Is Valtrex your recommended medication for Simplex 1?  It seemed that the doctor didnt even consider anything else and just wrote me the script without explaining my options.

Thanks.

can you get your actual test results to post here? I can better help you if I see them - ie hsv1 igg .34 or whatever they are.

Trace meaning they detected levels of it in my blood test, but I never had any sores or any symptoms from it.

Basically I was wondering if it is possible to have Type 1 for as long as a year, have no outbreaks, and then when having sex with someone else that has it, have a breakout in my genital area.

Anyone have a similiar experience?

I'm not sure what you mean by traces of hsv1. You either are infected or you aren't.  no such thing as a little bit of infection.
