Did i get herpes from one time???

Hi all,

I'm a 31 year old male. 16 days ago I had unprotected oral/vaginal sex with a female escort. I received oral for about 2 minutes and penetrated her for about the same amount of time. I was drunk and I wasn't thinking!! It was stupid and I had a gut feeling that I had just made the biggest mistake of my life. I immediately got home and washed my penis thoroughly. 2 days go by and no symptoms. On the 3rd night, I had unprotected sex with an exclusive person. Didn't have any signs or symptoms during sex.

Later that night while I woke up from my sleep. My penis was burning and I was feeling extremely itchy and tingly all over my body. I ran into the bathroom and to check on my junk. I pulled my foreskin back and I had some redness on the head of my penis, but no lesions or soars. It was just burning, nothing unbearable just uncomfortable. At that moment I knew something as up. The next few days I developed cold symptoms which turned in what seemed like the flu by day 6. Fever, feeling tired and diarrhea. That same morning I went and got a full STD test (blood and urine) at a local lab. I ordered the test online through STDcheck.com. Anyways,  flu symptoms, body itching/tingling and penile discomfort continued. By day 8 my STD results were back, all NEGATIVE for HIV, Chlamydia, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, HSV-2 ect. but I did come back 0.94 for HSV 1-(EQUIVOCAL). Nonetheless, I was shocked. Could my levels of antibodies be telling me that I might have HSV-1 in less than 1 week?!!  My heart sunk and I felt sick to my stomach.

By the end of the day my fever disappeared. Next I'm not sure if out of shock but I lost my appetite, constantly stressed and thinking about my results and possibly living with this virus. The following nights I developed night sweats along with the same itching/tingling all over my body and burning sensation on my penis.

I was so stressed that I called out of work on day 13 and went to a private clinic in Los Angeles to see a doctor who specializes in STD's. I told him my symptoms and he did a visual on my penis. He determined that it looked normal! I was a little taken back because by now my penis was still burning. It was dry, faint redness, discolored and the head looking wrinkly. He tested me for HSV-2 through a Immunoassay GG2 test and it came back negative. The only thing I received from him was a Clorimazole 1% for my penis. I've ben using it for 4 days now and I'm still feeling the burn. I also drew blood for an Early HIV DNA detection test. Yes, I'm freaking out and I've already spent a few $$ on these tests. I cant wait weeks or days. I need my results ASAP!

Today is day 16 since my possible exposure, I still have a burning sensation on my penis, I have no visual signs of any outbreaks on my penis and I still have diarrhea (very soft stool, not watery like at the beginning). I'm super stressed, feeling guilty, disgusted and my mind is completed consumed with my current condition. Any suggestions to what all this could be?? Never have I ever experienced these symptoms...I know its my fault....

Test was igG, so i know its pretty dam accurate. Im just super concerned with the other symptoms that im having. For almost 3 weeks now ive been suffering from chronic diarreah and having lost weight, approximately 8 pounds over the last 2 weeks. My family keeps telling me that im looking thin and im afraid that i might be dealing with the HIV symptoms, such as ARS.

I know its early but ive tested negative 3 times already. Including through the Early DNA HIV detection test, which is highly sensitive at 2 -3 weeks.

Hiv is not realistic at all.

Your white blood cells can be high for many reasons. Like the cold symptoms you seem to be fighting. Was the hsv1 test igg or igm?
Your symptoms would be on the rare side with no lesions but asymptomatic means you would have no symptoms. If this is hsv1 it's at the surface now but the good news is genital hsv1 has few outbreaks and sheds very little. It is also extremely rare to spread it from genitals to genitals during intercourse. You can have the burning area swabbed and pcr tested

Also, if i tetest again in a few weeks can i expect my levels to rise even more? And if so, with my burning sensation but zero outbreaks does that make me a asymptomatic? Could i still be shedding the virus without knowing?
Or becuase i feel the burn on my penis does that count as an outbreak? I have read that HSV 1 outbreaks are less severe and have less recurrences. If thats the case i want to know how contagious i am to others now that im positive.

Ok, so an update with my situation.

Symptoms since the last post include, burning sensation on head of penis  (no visible out breaks, penis glans looks scaly and some redness), burning also felt on foreskin, but i cant make out which side burns the most, the burning sensation has minimized by a lot as of yesterday. Also, i keep.waking up at night and im sweating! I cant figure that out and im still showing minor signs of a cold. My throat/tongue also tingle and sometimes feels like a slight burning sensation.

My Early HIV DNA detection test came back negative. I took the test 2 weeks after possible exposure. Its supposed to be highly accurate during this period.

I also retested again for a complete STD panel and a wellness check.

My results just came back in.

Everything negative EXCEPT HSV1. my level has gone from an equivocal 0.94 1 week after exposure to a 2.08 after 19 days. My levels have increased on the second test, wich is confirming my worst nightmare.

My white blood cells are also high, 10.9. Does this mean that my body if trying to fight off the HSv 1 infection? I know its mine forever and my body will never win. Or could my white blood cells be higher due to another underlying issue, such as HIV? Im still worries about this..

I guess I won't find out for sure until I do a swab, but I don't have any lesions or soars, zero visible outbreaks. I stopped using the ointment I was given since last night to see how my penis would react, and oh my, since mid day today my penis feels like it's in fire!...the head looks dry, cracked, discolored and still no visible outbreaks :(..what the hell is going on!

The only thing you can do is have 4hat area pcr tested with a swab to rule out herpes. Past that just continue to follow the Dr's or see a dermatologist

Thank you feelingundone for your response, your words are soothing to me during this matter.

Although, I thought that one could contract HSV and within days have no outbreaks but could suffer from similar symptoms. And if I was having an outbreak, wouldn't that only last a few days and not weeks? Especially since I don't have any lesions or soars?

I've been using the ointment given to me by the doctor but I'm still feeling a burning sensation on my penile glans. I can actually see a red rash along the bottom of my penis head and it may be where i feel the irritation. I dont think its a yeast infection because I've had those in the past and was able to treat it  with some monistat ointment. This is different. Again, no lesions or sores, just the burning/irritated feeling on my penis and it's now day 17.

Could it be some strong fungal infection that I'm not aware of?

Symptoms like you describe would be very rare to be hsv related. While hsv can present in a few ways . That being said not having lesions with these types of symptoms would be very rare. You can have the burning red area swabbed and pcr tested for hsv. These tests are very sensitive

This doesn't sound like hsv. When you get a primary outbreak with flu symptoms you will have e very noticeable and painful lesions. In fact no std acts the way you describe. Yeast or fungal infections can.
Your stress is causing you to be hyper aware and doesn't allow the brain to relax. The odds of contracting hsv is very small.
As far as the hsv1 test. They really are not as accurate as hsv2. Hsv1 igg tests miss up to 25% of infections. Either way your symptoms are not typical for hsv.
