Do I pierce the vesicles to relief itching?

I have herpes HSV2.  If i pop the vesicles, will that make the itching subside?  I am in day 5 of my initial outbreak ever.  I wake after only 2-3 1/2 hrs of sleep each night in pain and itching.  I have applied topical ointments, which provide temporary relief, but once it either wears off or rubs off my buttock/anus, I am delirious with discomfort!

no you shouldn't pop the lesions!!! you run the risk of spreading the virus when you do that as well as getting a secondary bacterial infection. just leave them be!

have you tried dermoplast spray ( the blue can for the genital area, not the red can )? It seems to last for awhile I think. also you can soak in the tubby with some epsom salts thrown in too several times a day.

did they give you herpes antivirals?

what testing did you have done to confirm your hsv2 infection?

you can also try taking tylenol pm at bedtime too. it has pain relief in it as well as benadryl for itch relief too.

Hmm.  I was wondering about that quicky "consultation. I sure hope the symptoms do not reoccur, but if they do, I will do so.  Thank you.

actually the antivirals don't work that fast :(  It's unfortunate the provider didn't do a proper work up for you.

call monday or tuesday to see if your blood work was back yet. should symptoms reoccur, be seen promptly and insist a proper exam is done.

No. :-(   The NP only talked to me, didn't look at it, didn't culture it--nothing but ordered a blood test.

No. No other tests for bacterial infections or yeast.  The itching is only on my left buttock and anus, but has reduced *tremendously* since the meds began affecting it 9 hrs after I began my 1st pill.

I have no insurance and went to a public clinic that is *CRAZY* busy.

Stress has been a trigger for any and all skin lesions for me.  I have psoriasis.  This yr for the 1st time I developed a boil (MRSA) on my right buttock.  My job was highly stressful.  I had 3 of them this summer before I finally left.  You could say that job was a pain-in-the-butt.  Since then, no more boils.    I have tenants since loosing my job, and they are my new stressor.  The day before I broke out with all these lesions, I had a huge blow-out with my tenants and served them a 30 day notice to leave.  I also was packing to leave for  a 3 day trip that next day, and traveled 4 hrs by car immediately after packing.  It was a very stressful 2 days. We travelled Wed, Thursday I was  little itchy and uncomfortable, and by Friday in pain and red with early blisters.  Sunday they were well formed and driving me CRAZY!!!! with both pain and itching.

your current partner will need to get tested to see what their status is too. assume nothing plus you can't make educated decisions about what precautions to take with a partner until you know who has what.

did they do a lesion culture on your symptoms at all?  That would've been the most appropriate testing for you.

stress isn't a trigger for most people. did they also test you for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally when you were seen?

Yes,  but I think this is from my ex husband who was never honest about anything, so asking him to test or getting any truth from him if he did test, would be dubious.  That was 2 yrs ago.  I have been with same person since him.  My stress level went way up 9 days ago, just before I broke out.

it's too early for blood testing for a new infection.

do you have a regular partner?

I haven't heard of dermoplast spray.  I will try a stiz bath, as you recommend.  I started antivirals yesterday and the pain and itching started to subside within 9 hrs, and by 24 hrs was much more tolerable.  I had a blood test done yesterday to determine a positive HSV2 or 1 infection, but my outbreak is textbook.  Thank you for the recommendation for tylenol PM.  I bought that and will try it.  Now to rid myself of the crippling leg pain and aching.  It hurts to walk and my feet are very tender.  This disease is life changing--and not for the better!!
