Does Valtrex work for Genital HSV1?

Does It also help to mitigate outbreaks?
Also, are there any side effects, (real world) that should be considered in taking this med?
I don't think Any, alternative medicine helps, whether it is herbal or otherwise..
Any comments?

The lysine/arginine theory never held up outside of the lab. It doesn't really do much for reducing ob's. we have no studies to see if it reduces viral shedding at all either.

Yes the herpes antivirals do work for hsv1 both orally and genitally. We don't have info to show if they reduce transmission of the virus to a partner either orally or genitally though. If you are having frequent ob's of hsv1 in either location though it's an option to reduce them.

You might want to do some research on the Internet on Lysine, an amino acid which is inexpensive and readily availalbe.  Also eliminate foods with Arginine while you are having an OB.

Hope this helps.

I understand it is supposed to help reduce attacks, especially for HSV2.
Looking for personal experience, not what I read it "says" it does..
Thanks
