I just received my test results today.
HSV 1 4.36 (I figured this would be high.)
HSV 2 1.014 (is this considered equivocal or false positive?)
I am going to get re-tested in four months unless I have symptoms before that time. My husband was recently diagnosed with HSV 2. He has had it for years without symptoms. He is on Valtrex twice a day.
honestly no reason for more testing at this point on you unless you develop obvious genital symptoms. you've been with him for awhile now I assume and took no precautions, the odds of contracting it now that he is on daily suppressive therapy are very low ( btw daily suppressive therapy with valtrex is just 1 time a day ). Being in a long term relationship, we don't recommend testing more than yearly at the most unless you get questionable symptoms to culture.
the herpes handbook is a free and terrific resource online to read. www.westoverheights.com is where you can find it :)
