FYI HERPES ALUMNI

I have been with my boyfriend on and off for 5 years, the last few week have really been "on!" Anyway, he has fever blisters on his mouth, so no oral sex for either us, he won't even kiss me, but we do have sex!  This is usually how it goes, but this time I got a sore ( not on my mouth). I always heard that if it was in one place or another that you could transfer it to another part, ie...mouth to vagina, vagina to mouth....etc..... so I guess it is true. Everyone be careful! I have had herpes for 10 years and it does get weaker with less and less outbreaks, but we still need to be careful whe nthere is even a sore on your nose or mouth!

LOL. I still don't get if she has HSV2 or HSV1 genitally? Also, the "advice" doesn't really apply to everybody. If both partners have HSV1, who cares if you kiss when you have an outbreak? If both partners have HSV2, you can have sex during outbreaks without problems.

It sounds like she's saying she got a genital lesion from the boyfriend from his going down on her, although this still isn't clear, because in the last post she says she hasn't had an OB in a year. ?? But then she says she has had oral lesions, which means it would be highly unlikely she got HSV1 genitally from the boyfriend because wouldn't she already be positive for HSV1 if she had oral lesions?

It's like a Where's Waldo situation. Color me confused. :/

No - the location of your lesion that you originally posted about - not where you live.

I guess I"m still not sure exactly what it is you are cautioning people about from your post. You have oral and genital herpes. You can expect to have lesions anywhere from the nose to the chin area on your face. You can expect to have lesions anywhere in the "boxer short" area as we call it genitally - anywhere a normal pair of boxer shorts would cover.  If you have oral and genital herpes and your partner has oral herpes - what got transfered where?  Sorry if I"m seeming incredibly dense to you but I"m just not getting what you are trying to say.

I have not had an OB for about a year now. When I was diagnosed in 1998, it was for genital herpes. Location? I live in Fort Lauderdale.

I think I"m still confused about the location of your new ob?  Did you only have oral herpes before and now you have it genitally?  Is that what you are trying to say?

You aren't likely to get herpes from him touching his face and then putting his fingers inside you. The "possibility" of "transfer" isn't much of a possibility at all.

He and I have never seen anything on his penis. I also get them on my mouth and nose and MY genitals. We do kiss and have oral sex, just not when there are blisters or sores, anywhere. I do not know what type of herpes I have, just know I was diagnosed 10 years ago.  I am just assuming he may have touched his face before he put his fingers in me! Just wanted to put the info out there ofr possibilities of transfer. Thanks

I'm a little confused.  Your bf has hsv1 orally.  You have genital herpes ( you didn't mention which type ).  You two never kiss or have oral sex? Why not?  And where exactly is your ob now?
