False Negative test but got tested within 24-48 hrs?
Hi there. I noticed one bump on my vagina, then 2 days after---- my pee burned for the first time and called planned parenthood that day, and got tested as soon as i noticed a sore. So the Sore was new that day, and got a culture test. It is one sore, and she said typically herpes is not just one sore, but it is probably herpes 1, and that i was one of the "lucky" ones who has a mild first outbreak with no other symptoms besides 1 sore. She said she got a great sample or scraping whatever u wana call it, and results should be in within a week. I went back today, and the test came back negative for 1 and 2?
Unless this is some weird rash or another STD(which i DOUBT IT)...i have a feeling it is herpes? It burns
when I pee, there is a sore, i mean what else is there?!? I heard culture tests are pretty accurate if you get it tested within 24-48 hours, whats the likelihood it REALLY is negative and just something else?
tests for Gon, and Chlamydia--havent gotten the results back yet. They did not test for syphillis (syphilis) because the doctor said it was very unlikely I would have it and typically the sores do not burn
I went to the doctor today to talk about my negative results, and she said that with the sample she got, it was highly unlikely that it was false negative, but she said it looked like gential (genital) herpes 1, visualy. She said the only way to know 100 percent is to wait 4 months and get a blood test, and to just got about my life and not worry about it. She said she would have no clue what else it could be.
im so confused now? Nothing else besides herpes causes a mild genital sore?
you absolutely can not tell type of herpes by looking at it!! any provider who says that, is not really up to date on their herpes info!
At this point I recommend a type specific herpes igg blood test now and then if need be repeat it in a few months or return for a repeat lesion culture if you get a return of symptoms. If this isn't a newly acquired infection, it will show up now on blood testing and you'll have answers faster. odds are you've never been tested for herpes before so this will give you a baseline.
condoms only reduce transmission of genital herpes by 30-40% so you still need regular herpes testing.
