False Positives

I was given an std test back in 2012. All results were negative. Got married in 2014 and we both took an std test which both came back negative. So now I took another std test in 2016 bc my insurance covers it (just b cause) and now my gyno is stating that I may have a false positive. I have not stepped outside my marriage and my husband has not either. Why am I receiving a possible false positive at this point? I was tested under the igg test. What could be wrong with me?

Most doctor uses tests that only test for 2 proteins of the virus. Western blot tests for all 14. So anything could really flag as antibodies for hsv

What was the tests numeric value? Testing with a low false positive is not uncommon. Please see if you can get the numeric value as that will help us to better help you

Anything less than a 3.5 needs a confirmation test like the western blot from the University of Washington. You can contact them and they will ship you the kit. Your Dr will draw the blood and ship it back to them
Will do. Are false positive accurate?
I am not sure I understand your question.
Are false positives accurate?
Hsv2 tests are very sensitive. It either saw actual antibodies for hsv2 or something else triggered a positive result. Most experts agree anything 3.5 or over is conclusive and anything under that needs a confirmation test. I would talk to your Dr about the western blot.
