Fever and Headache... PLEASE HELP

about two weeks ago i had protected sex with a girl who told me she has genital herpes.  She is taking valtrex as well.  After sex i washed my "area" with soap and water very thoroughly as i heard soap and water can kill the virus before it can infect me.  The past two days i have woken up (very late; 2-3 PM) with a slight fever and terrible headache.  However, I do not have swollen lymphnodes or muscle ache.  my fever seems to go away as the day progresses.  I was just wondering if I do have herpes, if i can expect to see an outbreak in the next few days or so.
on a side note, i am a heroin addict and relapsed, using quite a large amount of heroin before i went to sleep.  I was wondering if this is my bodys way of telling me I used too much and the drug taking its toll on me, as in the past when i would binge on large amounts of heroin the next day i would have a terrible headache and slight fever.  Any help and/or insight would be incredibly helpful.   I am a very anxiety ridden person and my panic has been through the roof for the past two weeks.  Thanks in advance.

herpes doesn't lay on the skin to work its way down over time. it is transmitted during the sex act itself. washing up after sex doesn't decrease your risk at all - it only makes you less messy.

it's not likely at all that you contracted herpes from this encounter. we recommend protected sex because it works and no reason to think you have any std from the encounter.

follow up with your provider as needed. seek out help for your drug addiction too!
