Flase Positive Result?

I tested positive for HSV type 1 but I have no cold sores and my partner has never had any cold sores either. Can the test be wrong?

I also wanted to add that my partner has never had sex before me and my doctor just simply told me I have herpes type one and when i asked her how its possible that nor does he have herpes and nor cold sore she told me that all she knows is my test is positive. I read people talking about scores like 1.3 something like that? I am also not sure what it is about. What is an alternative test that I can get to make sure I dont have herpes.

Most adults have hsv1 but only 20-40% of them ever get obvious cold sores to know it.  No reason to suspect that either of your tests are wrong.

I understand that but isnt the only way i can get HS Vtype one is if my partner has had herpes or cold sore and he has none...? That is why I am confused

You could've contracted this from anyone in your lifetime including your parents or even the very first person you ever kissed.

also there does not have to be active cold sores in order for the virus to be transmitted.
