Folliculitis? or herpes?

my name is matt, I recently was in a relationship with a woman who had failed to mention she had HSV2, i had sex with her for roughly a month everyday... with a condom. later i learned she was on acyclovir, during the course of our relationship she had no outbreaks or symptoms. Recently i had developed a slight fever or felt like i had one, and then night sweats for about 3 hours followed by a cough. My doctor said i had a sinus infection and post nasal drip, he had given me antibiotics and it cleared up after 2 weeks. At the same time of the sinus infection i had a few 3-4 raised red bumbs on my right thigh... there were no vesticles and they had appeared to start from what looked like hair follicles. they didnt itch, but i picked at them in the hopes of removing ingrown hairs... I was extremely stressed out when they began to swell although it was just an irritation swelling and went down in the morning? its been 4 weeks now and i keep picking at them but each one has a hair follicle... and they heal but are still inflammed, no vesticles or fluid just pink bumbs. roughly the size of a BB i have picked at more in the hopes of duplicating what they look like on another adjacent spot on my leg... im just really worried they are herpes. I took pictures from the moment they began to swell. till now opinions? Please?

Hello,
From the symptoms that you have mentioned,it looks like folliculitis and picked hair follicles.Herpes presents as itchy painful blisters that scab over.

Pls keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case.

I hope that helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
