GENITAL HSV1

I was recently diagnosed with genital HSV1 after having an outbreak.  Now i did not get all the stats on what my levels were, all i was told that i tested positive for HSV1.  I went for a 2nd opinion and this time the Dr performed a Culture since it was not done before, and explains to me that i may have been hsv1 positive for a while now since usually it time for it to actually show up in the blood work.  He also informed me that there still a possibility that i can have HSV2, is this true.  Ive never had a cold sore and ive dont recall ever having an outbreak.

Yes it is.  If it's a newly acquired infection, it can take several months until it's reflected on the blood tests.  when was the last time you had sex/received oral sex before this?

Do you have a regular partner? If so they'll need tested to see what their status is too.

So you had a genital lesion and you were visually diagnosed as having genital herpes and a blood test was done which came back as hsv1+ only? do I have that right?
