GHSV 1 worries

Hi!
I've recently entered a relationship with a partner who is positive for HSV 1 genitally. He told me this within the first few weeks of our relationship and after research and advice from health practitioners, we have begun a sexual relationship using condoms (and other barrier methods.. read below)
Being a naturally anxious person, I have been terrified since that I have already contracted HSV1 despite having no symptoms apart from tingling and slight itch (possibly caused by shaving) down there whenever I think about the possibility that I have herpes. I even even visited my doctor about these symptoms and she could not see anything remotely similar to herpes
I still have a few questions that I would love answered, any help is greatly appreciated!
My questions are as follows

1) His doctor told him that the transmission of HSV1 genital to genital is really low and even lower when condoms are used. Is this correct?
2) could this tingly be herpes related despite a lack of significant pain/itching or blisters?
3) I recently started to wonder whether herpes can be transmitted through clothing (i.e. dry humping when I have no underwear on but he is wearing his). If not, would it be beneficial for him to wear underwear with a flap in the front so that he can put his penis through the flap whilst also wearing a condom so there is not actual skin to skin contact in the genital region during intercourse? we have started to do this at all times and it puts my mind at ease

I would love any information that you can offer. I'm quite young and am worried about contracting a life long disease at this early stage in my life but I'm in love with this man and would love to maintain a relationship with minimal risk to us both.

With shedding there is no tingling usually and this is the danger that is on the skin surface with out knowing its there. Tingling usually would not come and go for a month. Tingling is a sign of an imminent breakout but  tingling with no breakout can happen.

I don't think I was clear enough
The tingly has come and gone for about a month with no other herpes related symptoms (so this could possibly be shedding, if I am infected). I know this is a prodromal symptom but the fact that it only happens when I am thinking about herpes makes me wonder if it's anxiety related.

1. yes
2. tingling is a symptom of someone that already has it and is called prodrome.
3. herpes cannot be transmitted through clothing.
