GRACE! PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION. I'M ON THE VERGE OF A MENTAL BREAKDOWN.
Hi Grace (and anybody else who will respond to my questions):
This is my situation:
Two days ago I felt pain on the crease of my labia minora. Of course, I was with someone unprotected for about two months and he claimed to be STD free. When I checked where the pain was originating from I found a big red bump that was very tender and painful
to touch. Immediately I freaked out and came to the diagnosis of HSV2 GENITAL HERPES. However, this pimple/sore had a whitehead in it and I tried to pop it but it would not come out. On Monday I went to my general doctor to have a professional opinion and he said that my lesion did not resemble a herpes sore. I am HSV1 positive and I see no resemblance to the herpes sores I get on my lips
. Now the pimple/sore went down in size and it still has a little bit of white puss left inside but again, it's hard and not soft and filled of clear fluid and it does not itch and it has not spread anywhere else on my vulva
. My question is: IS THIS AN INITIAL HERPES OUTBREAK IF I'M INDEED POSITIVE? My doctor said that he could not culture it because there was nothing he could scrape
from so he ordered a HERPESselect test with results by the end of the week but the anxiety is killing me. Can anybody answer? It is possible that it could just be a pimple or a blocked
Try to relax, not everything that goes on in the genital region has to be herpes. Trust me on that, I'm still trying to forget my experience and I've had multiple blood tests and cultures taken, all negative out to 6 months and I still cannot stop thinking herpes. However, your situation if you read the few good std / herpes forums you will find good info. Your doc didn't suspect herpes, which is a very good start, though not definitive. Taking a culture or pcr swab would have been best, but too late now. What you'll have to do is take a igg blood test that looks for hsv1 and 2 separately, like the Herpeselect or Captia, at the 3-4 month mark after last exposure. Treat your current blood test as a baseline test if it has only been 1 or 2 weeks since last time you had sex
. Don't get a igm. Plus, you know what cold sores are like and your experience is quite different. What you have is fairly similar to my symptom, just mine came back a couple times, and I test negative everytime for both hsv1 and 2.
