Generic Caltrex vs the real thing

Hey guys,
I have been on 1gm daily Valtex for about 6-7 years now and it has been a huge life saver. I haven't had even a symptom of an out break since I started the suppressive therapy. However, my new insurance will only cover the generic brand and I am a little worried about switching. I know that generic drugs are supposed to be exactly the same, but I still can't help but feel concerned about switching meds after so many years. Especially since it has been so effective at giving me my life back. My doctor assures me that they are exactly the same, but I'm still worried. has anyone switched from real valtrex to generic and had any issues. I'm mainly interested in hearing from those that are in my situation, suppressive therapy at 1gm a day. But any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance for any insight.

no reason for you to not get the generic. Not worth paying the extra money for the name brand when the generic works the exact way. the only thing they change are the colors and "fillers" that keep the active medication in a pill form. It's the same active medication otherwise.
