this isn't your herpes going on. continue to follow up on this with a gyn to get to the bottom of things. It could even be that yeast issues has caused your skin to be fragile and tear more easily.
honestly not everything that goes on in the genital area is due to herpes.

Hi Grace,
I took a canesoral capsule to clear my yeast, I didn't have many external symptoms except discharge.
The discharge has returned to normal and the itching (that was associated with yeast) has gone.
However, I have had outbreak after outbreak. Before I got my period I got an outbreak. Then directly after my period another outbreak. Then about 1 week or so later another outbreak (which I am currently experiencing).
The outbreaks are so tiny (2 or 3 cuts) then I wouldn't be able to tell.
This is difficult. I have social drinks at least once a week, I exercise and eat healthy, the sex I do have in between isn't overly rough, and I take 100mg of valtrex daily. I am obviously worked up about it, I feel like my relationship is suffering because I can never have sex and somedays I just feel depressed knowing that I am going to have another outbreak each week. Whatever happened to an outbreak every 3 months?
Where I am going wrong? Is there anything I can do, I am seeing an std specialist next week.
Also, I wanted to ask about sexual activities during an outbreak. I know you can get witlow from touching herpes with your fingers, but I just can't catch a break with the outbreaks. My partner has fingered me a few times while I've had minor outbreaks, how bad is this? He never has cuts, or open cuticles on his hands, there always clean and I make sure he cleans them after with anti-baterial soap. What are the risks where? He has HSV-1 orally.
Thanks.
alcohol usually isn't a trigger. at this point you have other things going on that need dealt with.
you definitely need to treat your yeast. clumpy discharge is usually due to yeast and you already knew that you had had one that needed treated properly.
clear up the other issues and your herpes should settle down too.

Hi Grace,
It's only been about a week and a half since my last outbreak.
I was drinking very heavily the other night and was vomitting all morning, then just like magic I had another outbreak within a day. I think it's due to heavy drinking and stress at work, but I am on supressive therapy which doesn't seem to be assisting.
I obviously know now driking may be a trigger. However I wanted to ask somethings.
- I am getting a very clumpy discharge. As you said this may be yeast, but it comes only when I am having an outbreak. Is this a usual symptom? Or should I get yest treatment.
- I am on Valtrex 50mg once a day for surpressive therapy. Should I up my dosage to 2 a day for supressive therpay, sicne I ha already had 2 outbreak in a month since my inital outbreak?
- Will I aso have such frequent outbreaks? I know the first year is the hardest, but will it get better within a few months? I don't want it every fortnight, I can't handle it :(
Thanks.
odds are that your yeast didn't clear itself up. Getting your period gives the yeast a warm, moist environment to thrive in too. If you haven't treated for yeast yet, not a bad idea to get an otc 3 or 7 day treatment and do so.
it's not unusual at all to have a recurrence within the first 2 months of being infected.

I had testing done and my doctor said i had a minot yeast infection that would clear it self. i didn't have sex for 2 weeks after that, and the outbreak and yeast both went away. then i started to have sex again and after 2 weeks, i got my period, then what seemed to be yeast and then an outbreak. i can't really make sense of it all.
if i am on surpressive meds (valtrex) once daily, then why have i had an outbreak in the first month since begining diagonised. is it due to my medication not working? or do i need to continue on valtrex for a while longer and see if i another ob. and if i do get ob's with my period, what can i do?
Sometimes getting rid of vaginal yeast isn't easy :( You need to go and have testing done again to look for yeast and bacteria.
This could be hsv1 going on or something else. no reason to suspect you'll have ob's all the time at this point.

hi grace,
thank-you for your response. i will follow that up and ask questions from this one.
i had a minor yeast infection with the orginal OB, but is it possible it can come back when i have reoccurences. it went away after medication.
also, i checked this morning and i have an OB. two minor lesions, itching has subsided and i am taking valtrex 2 daily now. 5 more days till i am clear i assume.
it would seem that my period has been my trigger. does that mean that i will have an OB every period? it's only been a month since i was diagonised so this is a bit of a set back, is it nesscary an indication of how this virus will perform in my body throughout my life? what can i do if i have recogonised my period as the trigger. i have been taking valtrex 2 times daily for 4 days and just had the outbreak now, so i am lost.
thank you. iz.
It's really helpful if you just keep adding to your original post like we recommend in our read before posting post on this forum. thank you for your future cooperation with this.
no, hsv1 genitally doesn't reoccur more often than hsv2 does. The research backs this consistently and why your provider has told you otherwise is beyond me.
if you have discharge, go and be seen and get tested for yeast and bacterial infections. Both are common with the first ob and it's not been that long since you had yours. herpes is not going to cause you to have discharge like that.
