Genital HSV-1 Question

So I know genital to genital transmission is rare. What about genital to mouth transmission? I have genital HSV-1. What is the possibility that my partner would get oral HSV-1 from performing oral sex on me? Me being the female. I know it's likely he already has simply based on age, but what if he does not?

That was exactly my question. Thanks Grace. I hadn't really seen that clarified anywhere.

hsv1 genitally doesn't shed very much at all. the odds of transmitting it to a partner are overall very low regardless of the location. it isn't more likely to transmit to the oral area just because it prefers the oral area for infection if that was what you were thinking.

if your partner hasn't been tested for herpes, he needs to be tested. it's important for you to know both his hsv1 and hsv2 status so you both can make educated decisions about what precautions to take. if he has hsv2 and doesn't know it, you need to be protecting yourself against that!
