Hsv1 genitally only sheds about 3% of days. It' s not likely to be actively shedding to be transmitted to the oral area or the genital area but it could be if the partner performing oral sex was hsv1-. It could be - but the chances are pretty darn low. It's not a higher risk just because hsv1 "prefers" the oral area.

HSV1 doesn't transmit as much as HSV2 so by definition, asymptomatic transmission is less. Unless there are overt sores present or some prodromes, the likelyhood is not too great!! Why do you ask?
