I have searched up and down but I can not find a straight answer for this question, so let me explain my situation. I recently started an intimate relationship with a lady who is HSV-2 positive in the genitals. My last STD test (a year ago) was negative across the board. We have had oral sex
Its low probablity. And thats if she has HSV2 orally. If she does'nt then the Oral sex is no risk for HSV2. Yes you are being safe by using condoms during intercourse, but its not 100 percent. It possible to get it but very very low risk. Other things you can do, refrain from sex if she's having an outbreak. Maybe talk to her about suppresive therapy medication. Maybe someone will have more info, I'm still fairly new to this. Good luck man.
i thank you for your quick response. I am a hypochondriac and I think that I'm going to get sick every time I do anything. I am tinkering with the idea of being exclusive with this young lady (I do practice monogamy, have been single for over 2 years now) and I want to know how this can have an effect on our relationship. I am afraid of getting herpes, but I am more afraid of being alone for the rest of my life haha.
Just make sure that you were actually tested for herpes when you had your std testing done. It's not a part of routine std testing in most clinics so it's best to make sure you really were properly tested for it.
If you and your gf did nothing but avoid sex anytime she has obvious genital symptoms going on, on average you are 96% likely NOT to contract hsv2 from her. If she takes daily suppressive therapy and you also use condoms, you are 99% likely on average not to contract hsv2 from her each year. Pretty good odds right?
As for oral sex, unless she has hsv1 or hsv2 orally, no risk of her transmitting herpes to you when she performs oral sex on you.
