Genital HSV1 Transmission

by DaBunny, Nov 04, 2009 12:47AM
Hello,

I have had genital HSV1 for two and a half years. For the first year, I was absolutely devastated, I had contracted it from my second sexual partner and was 19 at the time. I felt like the world had crashed down on me and I was going to be alone for the rest of my life. I was a disaster. After that first year, I finally was ready to cope with it. I have only had one outbreak and that was two and a half years ago. I'm not taking any medication for it because my doctor had told me that there is a very small chance that I'll get more outbreaks and that I had nothing to worry about. If it does happen to go back to them and they would write me a prescription for it.

I have finally found a man that I truly love and want to be in a loving relationship with. I told him about my situation and he accepted. We talked about it and finally had sex. We did use protection. Now he is getting very paranoid and is stressing out thinking he could get it from me. I've done alot of research on transmission. I've recommended this forum to him so he could do his own research on top of what I've told him.

What more can I do to help ease his mind??
To see him so stressed out it scaring me and I really want to help. It almost seems like he's convinced himself that he already got it from me. I want to help but I don't know how!!
Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

First of all, has he been tested to now his own status? He may already have HSV-1 orally which will give him greater protection. I know i fyou do a search on this site, Dr Houndsfield ahs answered this question many times in a wonderful way which should truly make your boyfriend feel better. But you should definitely find out if he already has it or not first!
