Genital HSV1 transmission

I was just recently informed I am infected with genital HSV1, and I have a question about it. Viral shedding.... how common is it with HSV1? I have had two out breaks, when it first was transmitted which was the worst, and then once more after being at the beach in the sun for over 8 hours with sand in my bottom, which caused some irritation to the top of my butt crack, and i had an outbreak there, but it was not as bad, and i haven't had one since. but i would like to know what will cause me to have outbreaks and shedding so i can prevent it as much as possible. and I aslo would like to know how common it is to have viral shredding with hsv1. thank you so much doctors :)
