Genital Herpes and Shingles

I asked a question last week "Herpes or Not/Misdiagnosed or Cured". I have one more question that just came up.

My girlfriend recently spoke with her GYN doctor about a situation where she visited a pregnant friend at the hospital who had shingles and my girlfriend believes she contracted the shingles from this friend.  Then my girlfriend feels she transmitted the shingles to me.  My girlfriend had anal and vaginal sores. As a result I had penile sores.  Her doctor believes this is why she tested a low positive for HSV2 the first time and this is why we are both now testing negative for HSV2.  Her doctor explaied to her that she believes our systems passed the virus.  Is this possible ?
