itch since I run alot. I also use the sauna at my gym, and thought maybe I picked something up in there. A week later I noticed 3-4 very small red dots on my penis
chafing easily when running or masterbating (masturbating). I went to the doctor and he said it was fungal, and gave me some cream (anti-fungal/bacterial/steroid). I used it and the bumps went away in 2-3 days. A week later, they came back... 3-4 pimples with white puss in a couple of them this time, the rest like rash pimples. I saw the doctor again and he prescribed oral anti-biotics to me. He said it was unlikely herpes since it was no more painful to touch than a zit and said it would be clear not white puss. It has since cleared up but since he couldnt say what it was, I am not feeling at ease. I have had several sex partners in the past year, but the last one was at 6 weeks before any of these symptoms. Can herpes take this long to show up? What else what have these symptoms? Would a fungal infection really only attack my genitals? Thanks in advance for any insight.
This doesn't really sound like herpes. Sounds more like you've picked up a few things at the gym like your doctor's been supposing too. And yes - fungal infections in the groin area can get quite nasty if not treated properly.
If you have never had a herpes blood test before - why not get one to see what your status is? Doesn't mean that what's going on is herpes even if you do test + for hsv2 but obviously herpes is on your mind so why not cover that base while you are at it?
Thanks, it's hard to see the obvious when you are constantly worrying and thinkin about something... I have vowed to get tested for STDs and make smarter decisions in regards to my sex life and partners.
