I am freaking out because I may have genital herpes. I went to a clinic and the doctor said it was either that or folliculitis. I noticed a somewhat itchy red bump 3 days ago on my vagina and went in yesterday. I have not put myself at risk for spread of a viral infection for 3 months. Is it possible to be exposed 3 months and not have an initial outbreak in that amount of time or is the incubation period between contraction
but did make out with someone naked and had skin to skin genital contact. He had told me in the past he had genital herpes but that he couldn't spread it unless he had an outbreak which I've now read is untrue. The thought of not being able to have unprotected sex with someone without putting them at risk makes me so sad. Are there any symptoms of genital herpes that are self diagnosable at home? I get the blood test results in 2 days but I am stressing out here and just wonder if anyone has any ideas about the difference between genital folliculitus (folliculitis) and genital herpes.
I know it's hard to wait but you've had testing done so you will have your answers soon.
folliculitis and herpes generally look pretty different. folliculitis is an infection of the hair follicle and herpes generally doesn't involve the hair follicle in the same way.
I can help you with your test results once you get them. I just need to see the numeric results - ie hsv1 igg 5.5 and hsv2 igg 3.2 or whatever they are.
