Genital herpes?
Hey people, I have had a risky encounter I suppose I didnt think it was but then after kissing and being given oral sex without condom I got a cold sore in my mouth, few days after the sex. Do I also have it genitally I shaved my genitals but not with a razor but. Electric shaver did not develop any obvious genital symptoms apart from ithcing and and some burning but I think those were snxiety, and I still get them, what do you think

Well I got my WB results today and both 1 and 2 are negative!!! I guess my 22 week IgG results were false positive!! Thank God!
Turns out 17 weeks negative means nothing. My 22 week is positive 62.20 for HSV 1 and 21.70 for HSV2. Both high positives.....I'm devastated.

I think that if I wasn't in a relationship, id have most likely put this behind me by now. But, considering the hardship which i've been through as a result of all of this, the idea of putting the one I love through the same situation keeps me from being able to move passed it. She doesn't deserve to suffer for my mistake.
Worndown, genital hsv wouldn't likely be causing oral issues. I don't think anal fissures are a common symptom, and any sores that never go away wouldn't be a symptom either. Nor would constipation. But I understand you're concerns, its quite apparent i'm going through the same type of thing. Still, 17 weeks neg on a type-specific igg is a great sign no matter how you slice it. Get you're results printed and just look at them when you're feeling anxious. I've done that before and it helped me, maybe it'd help you too.

I guess the reasons for keeping on with this is because these symptoms came on after. So, no I absolutely dont want this to be hsv but i do want answers, ya know? Same as we all do. Its scary, and frustrating....and tiring isnt it? Hang in there you guys!!
Thanks Paranoidguy, I do have this weird dry patch above my lip and i get tiny pimples above my lip. I tried to get my doc to swab one but he said its too small. I have 2 sores on hard palate, but they are flesh colored and never go away. Those could be from my e-cig. I have chronic chapped lips. I have burning in anal and vagina area. Ive had razor bumps, but never directly on those areas. I had fatigue, low back pain and headaches. All since exposure. I also had an anall fissure...swabbed negative, but 2 weeks after it started. Oh and constipation. Everything except sores and negative igg tests. So...i dont know what to think. I know what you mean about crotch watch. I did it for 3 months straight and wonder if that is the cause of back pain. Have you been tested for yeast? I hear it can cause similar herpes symptoms. Might be worth a try. I hope you find answers. Nobody deserves this torture.
I have those kind of things after rough intercourse or masturbation even on my penis head, herpes isnt correlated with the amount of sex you have. You are no different than worndown I know there is that voice in your head that doesnt leave you and at a point you ask yourself Do I actually wan this disease? Given that we are so eager to find out, for the past months We could have chosen to live life not knowing all this info and herpes or not (most likle not) it would have been better right? I personally have to lose all this 25 pounds even I dont have anything and at least you guys didnt have a very suspicious miouth sore like me.regardless best wishes.

17 weeks negative, with no sores? I think your fine! The only reason i'm so hung up on this is because I am having sores, but they are not blister-like or ulcerative.. more like rashing and some red raised bumps following sex, which completely heal in 3 to 4 days. Could be a product of my "crotch watching" as Grace puts it. Regardless, I think congrats are in order for you Worndown. Mine was 12 weeks post and I felt great until the marks came back. At 17 weeks asymptomatic i'd put it behind me and thank the stars.
So confusing! Why do they always suggest the type specific if the nonspecific is more sensitive??? I guess i will do the same. So far i'm low negative with the type specific testing at 17 weeks. No typical sores, but I do have other symptoms. Currently im really sick and always thought herpes sores surface when immune system is weak, so im hoping lack of sores is a good sign. Hey I am currently ordering a Western Blot but still it will take a total of 4-5 weeks for me to get the result and I will try the nontypespecific one, as you read from HowardH's advice it does make sense that a negative non type specific test could be more sensitive that Type specific since it combines both values. If you get a neg from both hsv1 and hsv2 and still have REAL symptoms I think you can try westorn blot even if you live outside US but it would be costly. I wish the best for you
Let me know if you decide to get the non-specific. I'm in the opposite situation to you basically.. got a neg on non-specific igg but have symptoms, so am considering spending the cash for the type-specific.
Hey I know this might sound a little weird but a thought cross my mind. What If I yas to infect myself with herpes where it wouldnt bother my daily or my sexual life wouldnt it be kind of a vaccine for example the top of your feet on my back, elbows, The virus wouldnt shed and I assume would reoocur much less. And if it is a place where it is hard to autoinaculatento other sites for the first infection wouldnt that be practical?Or lets say if you infect anywhere in your lower body it settle in the spine and still can shedd genitally or the same for upper body? I would appreciate anyones opinion this isnt related to my question but I dont want to post another thread to crowd the forum
From what HowardH said on a post earlier, that nonspecific igg tests are kore sensitive for negative detection is that true? I mean would it be better than 91%hsv1 type specific?
Any igg type specific would be ok and yes a negative with the combintion would be accurate.
They say that non type specifics are accurate with negative results but have kore positive results. The risk is that If I get a nontype specific igg test and its negative is it more conclusive? But if it is positive it might be false and cause panic for no reason. Is there anyway to get WB outside of US? Can it be shipped internationally under right conditions I would pay whatever it takes to get my samples in a fridge on a boat overseas to UW to get one result where Indont have to question 10%inaccuracy :))
Hey I knownky type specific tests are as accurate as it can get which are like 91% for hsv1 and 95-97% for 2. I just want to ask about something I read about non typespecific IGG testing which can detect infections missed by Elisa. Igg for hsv1( almost 1 out of every 10 infections) Also when eilsa miss these infection do they almost likely have higher values than 0.1 like close to equivocal or positive? And are these missed infection are more likle to produce more obvious symptoms since antibody producing is slow or is it just a glycoprotein deficient virus strain. I know I might be overthinking but good to know and really lost myself in all these different opinions and info. Some say herpes testing isnt accurate untill 6 months which sounds ridiclous but does leave some questions. Thank you life
Hey quick update my 15 weeks ELISA type specific igg for hsv1&2 was also a 0.1, I know this test isnt the best but is this concusive enough since I have tested twice without any symptoms except for the initial oral sore? I am kind of sure it wasnt a sure but it appears I dont have neither of these types. Is this absolutely conclsive and should I move on with confidence?

Thank you, I trust this forum a lot have read a lot from experts forum and this one you guys are pretty well informed and experienced, out of curiosity are you an md or any advisers here or just educated about herpes? t of gps and hospital doctors know less about intrciate details hs than you guys anyway. them they were given textbooks and that about it, std clinics who are experienced is more reliable and of course people with first hand tsting and infection experience. I remember by anychance deficient in producing antibodies or late about it, I would have rather more obvious symptoms given its been more than 3 months and I already had unrelated colds and flus with fever but still no sores just that one
Yes it would have been much higher than 0.1. These is conclusive that you dont have hsv 1. But retest if your still concerned. The WB is good.
