Grace, I recently had a blood test done for Herpes. It was a year after the encounter.
The results were as follows:
HSV 1 IgG Positive
Reference Range: Negative
HSV 2 IgG Negative
Reference Range: Negative
HSV 1/2 IgM Negative
Reference Range: Negative
Can I assume these are correct? Even if I don't know what specific test was used? And even if there were no numbers and if just said negative or positive? Also, what does "reference range" mean?
Oh, sorry, I didn't clarify my question. It's not about the rash anymore. Found out it was just because of dry skin.
I just want to put my mind at ease, and make sure my test results after a year are accurate. Even if I don't have the values and I don't know the specific test.
I asked because this question had results similar to mine, and the doctor said he worries the test was an older, less accurate version. Do I have reason to worry? Or should I be fine like you said?

contact in those six months = Doctor told me I was negative for HSV-2
Had another test done, doctor told me I was positive for both, but after I received a copy of the results I saw it was a I/II combined test with a score of 30
Got another test done (which was now a year afterwards) where it said I was positive for Type 1 and negative for Type 2. I don't know what specific type of test was used, only that it said IGG and gave results for both types.
