Grace,please help!

My fiance' recently found out he is HSV-2 positive. Negative HSV-1. I was tested and found to be negative. We have had 5 months of unprotected sex. I am unsure if I need to get tested again. Also, he knew he was positive and never told me, another issue in the relationship.

My question is that even if my fiance' goes on Valtrex and uses condoms i know it isn't 100%. I have 2 autoimmune conditions and I don't know if being in this relationship is too much of a risk on my health.  Yet, call me crazy, I still love him.

this not a risk to your health to continue on in a relationship with this partner.  if he takes daily suppressive therapy and you use condoms and avoid sex any time he has anything going on genitally, your are 97-98% likely each year NOT to contract hsv2 from him. should you happen to contract hsv2, you can safely take daily suppressive therapy yourself to control symptoms.

keep asking questions!!!
