HERPES AND STAPH???

I had unprotected sex with my partener who told me he had been tested and clean. about 2 1/2 weeks After having unprotected sex with him i noticed symptoms of a yeast infection. I treated it like i would a yeast infection and the discharge and itching symptoms went away. Then i noticed I had about 3 bumps on my labia majora that resembled ingrown hair bumps or regular bumps from shaving, so i really didnt pay them much attention. It wasnt until i noticed a sore near the top of my vagina which was flat and open and looked like it was bleeding that i decided to go  get tested. I got tested and she did a wound culture and tested me for herpes as well. When the test results came back she said the wound cultures showed i had a staph infection. I asked her if she was sure thats all i had to worry abotut and she said yes because if i had herpes those bumps would look more like blisters and would be painful (which they werent at all). So I thought i was worry free until i got called again stating that the herpes tests came back 2 days late and that i was positive. Now the only symptoms i have are the ones stated above and the bumps that were once there are now like regular skin except lighter  and they did not scab or puss or anything. She gave me a blood test just to be safe today. Is it possible for the positive culture to be negative and how accurate are the blood tests.

Lesion cultures aren't likely to be falsely positive at all.  Sounds like you have both going on.

Yes it was the culture. I asked her if false positive is possible and she said it was very unlikely and i described the symptoms to her and told her i never had pain or anything just the presence of the sore...so thats why i took the blood test. The place where i took it is very unreliable becaue i am at school and its the college health clinic and they misdiagnos people all the time, but i was thinking and is it really that likely for someone to make a mistake on this.

You can have both going on actually - genital herpes as well as a staph skin infection.

Odds are that your partner was not tested for herpes if they really did have a std screening done. Your partner will need to call the clinic he was tested at and ask them to tell him what his herpes test results are. If he really was tested and is negative for hsv1 and hsv2 then we'll wait and see what your test results were. Do you know which test came back + for herpes for you - the lesion culture or the blood test?
