Hi, newly diagnosed herpes 2. I am going crazy thinking my life is over now. I have never had an STD before and feel down on my self. I have been in a committed relationship for over 2 years. I have children from a previous marriage but I feel dirty to touch them or share stuff with them. My current girlfriend is a sweetheart but I keep thinking if she cheated on me and gave me herpes. I have not told her yet about it and don't know how to approach the subject. We have not had any sexual contact for two weeks now. (sorry for rambling)
My question: How do I tell her and how do I continue with my life feeling this way. I am so paranoid about everything now....like my towels, toothbrush, anything I touch basically.

It's confirmed, Dr. called me today and told me I have herpes2.
Now to tell my girlfriend...oh boy!!! well first I know for a fact that I did not have it 6 months ago. I have tested my self and came out negative.
I have only been with her for the last 1.5 years and either she is cheating on me and got herpes from someone else and gave them to me. I really don't know what to think any more, I feel mad, sad, angry and all of the above. I am at a crossroads and wonder if I should break up and just live my life alone, so that way I don't infect someone else.

Thank you,  I needed to hear that!!! Thanks for the info and i'll do my research on the matter. I am newly dx and feel like I am walking on eggshells. Still need to get more educated on this matter. Also, I have not told my girlfriend yet cause I feel she might blame me for the herpes. I have not been unfaithful to her for 2 years we been together.
Well let the chips fall were they may, I trust in god and he'll get me throu this too.

A visual diagnosis of genital herpes is woefully inadequate and just bad medicine in general.  At this point, I recommend that you and your partner sit down and talk about this and then both seek out type specific herpes igg blood tests to see who has what. Unfortunately it's too late for you to seek out a lesion culture for faster answers for yourself. Your provider needs a much better education on diagnosing genital herpes.

The free herpes handbook by Terri Warren is available online and is a wealth of information for you and your partner! I highly recommend reading it. It also offers tips on how to talk to a partner.

do you need to worry about transmitting genital herpes to your kids? NO !! We call it a sexually transmitted infection for a reason - it takes that kind of naked and intimate contact to transmit. you are not a walking biohazard who needs to shun the world!!

Thanks for the comments, I will wait for he result and let you know the outcome. But meanwhile can you recommend what is good to take to boost my immune system up so I don't get another outbreak. Also sharing m life with kids, what are the do's and don't I have to keep in mind??

Also consider if this is herpes, it maybe hsv1 from oral sex and if your girl has oral herpes, as most people do, it can be passed from oral sex. For a doctor to say you have a herpes type is not professional. You need a igG type specific blood test.

If he put you on antivirals it will delay the virus and not show up on the blood test if this is a recent infection so it would be advise not to take them until after the blood test. But if youve had this a while it will show positive regardless of taking the antivirials. Most often flu like symptoms including node swelling occur with a recent infection. But im of the opiniion its not herpes till proven otherwise.

Yeah, at the time they were white, now they are blisters. He did put me on meds right away for the bumps. I also developed rt groin pain with redness. He stated that was lymphnodes enlargement due to the infection break out. I need to get that blood test asap!!!

So he just said you have herpes? Wrong, white bumps are not white herpes but are clear liquid filled blisters.

Hi, I went to the doctor for some funny little white bumps on the shaft of the penis. When he saw them he stated yup you have herpes!! I still have not done my blood test but I am going today. Its funny he never swabbed the little white bumps in the office, now that I remember....hmmmm.

Hi, tell us how you were diagnosed with genital herpes? If it was a swab then immediatly have a blood test cause if its negative, you just contracted it. If the test numbers are above 5 it could be infered youve had it quite some time.
