I recently was diagnosed with shingles, then I was told that I tested positive for the HSV virus. I had extensive blood work done and received the results today. Here's what the results showed.
HSV 1 IgG Type Spec results was <.91 Index: Negative 1.09
HSV 2 IgG Type Spec results was 6.00 H Ratio Index: Negative 1.09
Okay, the way I understand this is that if I tested Equivocal or Positive on the IgG test ( 1 or 2 ) that I have the antibody for HSV, but I tested negative. I don't understand the IgM I / II combo test? What does this mean?
Additionally, I apparently tested positive for syphilis, but my doctor said it could be a false positive since I have an infection and what she believes is a genital herpes outbreak vaginally. I didn't see anything listed on the test results even mentioning Syphilis so I am thoroughly confused and frustrated now! I had more blood work done today to determine if I have the Syphilis antibody in my system.
I only see 2 test results and both are the IgG tests. At this point your IgG results need to be reviewed by grace who is trained in the tests and can tell you what to do next.
Your IgM is not present but it is a flawed test and shouldn't be used.
As for syphilis I don't know much about that testing but nothing we see here. Grace can give you an indea on that as well.
how were you tested for syphilis? did they do a swab of an active lesion for syphilis or a blood test?
Your hsv2 igg is positive. your hsv1 igg is negative.
where was your shingles rash at? how did they diagnose you as having shingles? did they do a swab of the shingles rash , blood testing or just a visual
