Interesting .... I had Shingles in 2004 but the tingling and burning didn't start till after my HSV diagnosis in 2007 since Shingles and HSV are both members of the same family and travel nerve routes I'm not convinced they don't do some damage along the way in some people ...... just another mystery of the whole condition I guess ....

You need to follow up on this with a neurologist for further work up. It's not a listed reaction to the antivirals and it's also not somethign that typically would occur after herpes simplex.

You can get these sort of reactions after Shingles. HSV1 or 2, nah. Shingles can give you itching and a burning sensation forever for some people and others nothing after an outbreak. Everyone is different.
This is very interesting to me and i too would like to hear the views of others on the "nerve damage" I don't really know myself all I can do is tell you my own case,I was diagnosed in 2007 although I'd had it since 2005 but was unaware ..... late 2007 I started to experience tingling and burning sensations in my hands and feet over a year this has progessed to the muscle twitching you describe so bad that I am now on a drug to control all that,I asked my Doctor if this could be caused by HSV nad he said probably not but I am personally not convinced because I had nothing like this before my diagnosis.
I welcome any opinions on this subject too :)
Thank You
