HSV 1 & 2

In 2009 I was tested for HSV 1 & 2. I was positive for HSV1 but not 2. My levels were low for the HSV 1 about a year later I also texted positive for HSV 2 but took another test and it was negative so it was a false positive the first time for HSV 2. I get tested each year and it always come out positive for HSV 1 and now HSV 2. I recently was tested about a month ago and my results are as follow HSV 1: 2.25 and HSV 2: 1.59. I have never had any symptoms or outbreak for herpers. I am also concerned about if I am truly positive and spreading the virus to others through oral sex and vaginial intercourse. I have been reading all these forums and found out about the Western Bolt and I am thinking about having this test done. I am hoping that I do not have HSV 1 & 2. Any feedback would be helpful or support.

you are just as contagious whether your igg is 2.2 or 20.2. makes no difference.

when you are performing oral on a partner, know their hsv1 status too. if they have hsv1, no need for any precautions other than ifyou have any signs of a cold sore, don't perform oral on them. if they don't have hsv1, discuss together whether it's worthwhile to use barrier precautions for oral sex or not. it's a decision to make together.

confirm your hsv2 status so you know if you have to be worried about that or not.

Thanks for the response I really appreciate it.... I will do the WB test to confirm these results. What is the likelihood of me spreading the HVS 2 if my levels are so low through oral sex? I am a lesbian and oral sex is the primary way of sexual intercourse and this HVS 2 is concerning me in terms of spreading it to any potential partners... I am terrified to have sex I don't know to spread the virus and I am also ashamed and embarrass to share my status with an future partners.. I feel lil I will never be in a relationship due to having HVS 1 & 2.

correct - you have a low positive and will need to confirm it with additional testing. you need to wait at least 4 months post encounter to get a herpes WB blood test.

your hsv1 has been positive all along so odds are you really do have hsv1. 1 out of every 2-3 adults in the US alone has hsv1 and most don't get obvious cold sores to know that they are infected.
