HSV 1/2 IgG results

I just got our of a year long monogamous relationship two months ago.  I had another partner recently, but now my ex and I want to get back together.  She asked that I get tested first, so I was tested for a full STD panel.  The only thing that came back positive is HSV I/II IgG with a result of 12.0 (index <0.9 for negative).

1. I read that anything over 1.0 is simply positive, the high number is nothing to be overly alarmed about, is that so?

2. I have No symptoms of either type 1 or 2, should I get another test?  If so, what kind?

3. My exposure would have been within 4 weeks of the test, does this mean that it could have come from my ex? Or that I had it before we ever broke up?

your herpes testing was a combined test which was totally worthless.  you need to repeat it with type specific herpes igg blood testing. you need to wait until 3  months after the last time you had sex before you get the testing done.

your ex also needs tested so that you have a full picture of herpes in your relationship together.
