I have HSV-1 Oral and i want to know how easy is to transfer it to other areas of my body.
If i transfer it to my genitals it means i will have outbreaks on both sides at the same time or different times for the rest of my life? Or that i will have an outbreak in my genitals only THAT time and every other time i have an outbreak will be again in the oral area?
It works the same if transfer the virus to areas like my fingers
and give kisses to a person with no infection, does this person get an infection in both areas and thus contracted both genital and oral HSV-1 at the same time?
If that person can have both at the same time it means that that person will have outbreaks in both places? the outbreaks will come in both places at the same time or a differnt times?
Your own hsv1 oral infection gives you significant protection against contracting hsv1 on other body parts. It's not 100% but it's close.
As for if you transmit your hsv1 oral infection to a partner's genital area if they have it both places because you've also kissed them or not - well if they get obvious cold sores as well as the genital symptoms then yes you know they did. If they don't - there's no easy way to figure out if they did or not. Not many studies have been done on this but 2 of them that specifically looked at this ( only looked for obvious cold sores - unfortunately neither of them did oral swabbing long term to look for shedding of hsv1 orally - since most folks with hsv1 orally don't get obvious cold sores we need a study like this to get better answers ) found that at least 1/4 of folks who contracted hsv1 genitally, also had it orally. I usually advise folks to just let future partners know that they know they have it genitally and are unsure about orally and to discuss what precautions to take together.
If someone has hsv1 both orally and genitally - the recurrences will be completely seperate from each other. Hsv1 orally sheds more often than hsv1 genitally does.
