HSV-1 IgG appering during pregnancy

Dear Doctors,
I kindly ask for you help in interpreting the ambiguous results of my TORCH-testing. Unfortunately, I do not know which testing equipment was used, I took the test in Russia.
The first test was taken on September 23 (7th week of pregnancy)
IgM - 2,60 (neg 1,1)
IgG HSV1 - 0.45 (neg 0.8 pos>1,2)
IgG HSV-2-  2.20 (neg 1,2)
This test showed very high Epstein-Barr results not proven by the second test.
The second test from October 4
IgM - 0,40
IgG 1 HSV-1 - 2,49
IgG HSV-2 - 1,40
I've never had any symptoms of labial herpes in my life, but had an episode of HSV-2 (possibly, primary one) in July (one month before I got pregnant) with huge symptomatics.  Do the figures in my tests mean that I requiered HSV-1 during pregnancy? Or HSV-1 and 2 overlapped somehow and the results cannot be considered reliable? I understand that a recurring HSV is an almost safe situation for my baby, but I am very nervous that HSV-1 was a primary infection. Could it pose risks for a baby?

having hsv2 first gives you protection against contracting hsv1 later on but it's  not 100%.  the study you are referring to is one we get info from a lot but a drawback of it is it's short term follow up so we really don't know how much it protects you over the long term.

as I said, no way to know if you contracted hsv1 recently, had it previously and it wasn't reflected on your 1st testing or if it could even be a false positive with the low result.  since you already have hsv2 genitally, it's really not an issue for your pregnancy thankfully.

it's not likely it's hsv1 genitally at all.

No, PCR was taken about two week after the discharge :(
At first I was not scared as I thought even if it were herpes, it was a recurrent outbreak of my HSV-2. When my doctor looked at it, she said it "looked like HSV, and unlike it at the same time". I began to worry only when I saw the test results with HSV-1 G titres appearing in the second test...
I feel rather confused about the fact that I could have acquired HSV-1 in genitalia shortly after my fisrt (possibly primary) HSV-2 outbreak in July this year which seems quite unlikely...

not sure what a ag hsv test is to be honest. not sure if it's the anti-hsv2 test or just what.

was the pcr test of your vagina when you had that discharge?

Cooking is a great idea, my daddy-to-be will enjoy it :)

That was a blood test, actually there were 2 tests. Wish I knew the difference. One is for antibodies, the other called "Ag HSV".

PCR of vagina was HSV-negative on October 4.

Hope I'm not one of such people...
I've taken a DNA test last week. Don't know what's the right name in English for it and if the results would be helpful.

even if you did recently contract hsv1, odds are it's oral, not genital.  Not many people have hsv1 and hsv2 genital coinfection.

Btw, just thought about one more thing. During my 7th week I had some vaginal discharge and irritation (for 2 days). However, my doctor said that the inside of the vagina is clean. Is there still nothing to worry about, if I had first episode of HSV-1 with atypical genital localization?

there's enough to worry about when pregnant, you don't need more to worry about :)

correct - it's not an issue with your pregnancy :)

I haven't looked up the rates of hsv1 infection in russia but I'm sure they are the same as the US, canada and UK so no surprising that you tested + for hsv1.

keep asking questions as you have them :)  congrats on your pregnancy too!!!

Do I understand right, that my baby is at a minimum risk, even if I really aquired HSV-1 in my first trimester (which there is no way to know)? I am very nervous, so sorry if I ask one and the same question again :)
And thank you very much for your answers. They really help.

Yes, my partner was tested, the test confirmed HSV-2. I am not sure about HSV-1.

I've also read an excerpt from 1997 sytudy "The acquisition of herpes simplex virus during pregnancy" which says that "those who were initially HSV-2-seropositive had an estimated chance of zero for acquiring HSV-1 infection". This makes me even more confused about the results :(

has your partner been tested to know their status?

In July 2010, they did lesion culture but without typing. HSV was positive.

even the best herpes tests still miss 1 out of every 10 hsv1 infections. hard to tell if you contracted hsv1 recently or if it just wasn't picked up on with your 1st test you had done.

when you were originally diagnosed as having hsv2 genitally, did they do a lesion culture and typing at that time?
