Recently tested positive for HSV-2 with IGG (HSV-1 as well)... Have never had an outbreak of lesions or sacs or anything of the sort (that I was aware of).
My results:
HSV1 IgG 5.17 H
HSV2 IgG 2.10 H
I'm assuming that the positive IGG means I definitely have Herpes-2 (and not just exposed to it at some point in the past) -- that it's like a pregnancy test, you either have Herpes-2 or you don't.
However, I have now read that an IGG < 3.5 for HSV2 may be a false positive. Is that true? And why wouldn't the testing facility tell me this -- all they said was "You have Herpes-2".
However, given that I have never had an outbreak, is it possible that I never will? Or was it perhaps so minor that I didn't even notice? What can I expect?
Yes your hsv2 igg could possibly be a false positive and needs confirmed with further testing. The herpes biokit for hsv2 or the herpes WB would be the 2 best tests to choose from to do this with.
