I can see what you are concerned since the HSV 1 value did come into the positive range. since you have had no outbreaks or symptoms in the genital area, I think the chances of this being a false positive are pretty decent, but you clearly need a confirmatory test for that 1.25 value to know what your true situation is.
I would recommend that when 16 weeks have passed, you get a herpes western blot test. this can be done through a quest lab, the code is 34534.
what city do you live in? do you have a regular provider who will order this test for you/?
If the HSV 1 is truly positive, you could have had it for a long time or just recently acquired it. Your risk is really low, but as you know, still slightly present. the test you are taking misses one out of every 10 cases of HSV 1 infection, so it certainly could have missed it in the first test.
Let me know if I can help you with more information about this.

You just call the office, 503-226-6678, and say that you want to become a phone patient of mine and they will tell you how to do that.
Terri
Thanks Terri.
can you please tell me the procedure of how to become a patient of your clinic.
No, that is not a western blot.
If your provider will not order the test for you (the code is Quest 34534), then you can become a patient of our clinic and we will order it for you.
Terri
Terri, can you please respond to my above query.
Thanks.
Hi Terri,
As suggested by you, I want to get herpes western blot test. I looked at the quest lab but it requires healthcare provider. I am not sure whether my healthcare provider will order the test for me.
on the other hand, I found another lab which allows me to order the test. can you please let me know if the following test is the one you were referring to

Thanks for your help.
so it formed a scab? Is that what you are saying?
there is really no way at all to know at this point what the bump was. the only way to know more about her possibly being infected is an antibody test. the bump could be an ingrown hair or a cyst, just so hard to know for sure. I know this must be frustrating.
terri
Terri,
The bump dried up and fell off in three days time. she did not have any pain at all. while urinating she experienced burning sensation. we tried to get in touch with her gynac but the doctor was on vacation and could not get a appointment in time.
can these symptoms be caused by any other infections other than herpes. please let me know.I will get myself retested with immunobolt next week.
the bump is worrisome - has she been to have it checked out?
terri
Terri thank you very much for the detail response.
In my earlier post, regarding the exposure I missed to mention that I and the sexual worker also did tongue kissing just once and it lasted not more than 10 or 15 secs max.
I am married with no kids. my wife does not know about my encounter with the sex worker.
after the exposure I never had any sexual contact (even no kissing) with my wife for 7 weeks. I told her that i have urine infection and doctor has advised not to have sexual contact. after 7 weeks from the exposure i did the type specific IgG results and they came negative, I thought i did not catch herpes.
last sunday (july 31) which is 15 weeks after the exposure, we did tongue kissing and I gave her oral sex.
today when my wife woke up, she told me that she has one bump in her vagina opening and it burns while urinating. she also said there is no pain other times. she had her menstrual cycle on monday (4 days ago).
do you think that i may have passed her the virus. i know her and i am the only person she has had any sort of sexual contact.
I live in bay area, california. I will get the immunobolt test done next week to confirm my status. I am feeling devastated for what i have done.
To add to it, I have never had any outbreaks anywhere on my body all my life.
