blister in your life, even at the ages before u became sexually active, you will always test positive for herpes simplex 1 and 2? I took a test last week, because i was concerned about a sore i had in my butt. I thought it was due to yeast, because everytime i have a yeast infection, i notice i get a little itching
from scratching disappeared. Sometimes if i just feel pain back there i always thought it was from having sex and my partner pull my buttock cheeks apart so i thought maybe it was a tear or sumthing. So i finally decided to have my doctor look at it and she said she'll test for herpes since its an open sore. She said the tests cambe back positive for HSV2, but she said its not a new infection, that i been had it. I do recall having the itching in my behind but the yeast cream always does the job. I'm hoping my doctor is not correct but i'm sure she is. I never had any outbreak or blisters. When i did have a blister or rash in my libia area, i showed my doctor and she said it looks like yeast. She tested a scratch before and she said it wasn't herpes. Is it possible the itching in my upper portion of my buttocks comes from yeast or bacterial infections since those are the only times i seem to get the discomfort? when she told me my results, i became very concerned and worried. She said its nothing to worry about. If you ever had a cold sore it will always show up as herpes in your system. Several of my family members get cold sores yearly, so do that mean we all have herpes too? I feel like my life is over. I tried to so hard to prevent this after i heard how common it is. I've been in the same relationship with the same person for 13 yrs. He said he never had any blisters or bumps so i'm not sure what to do about this. My doctor didn't prescribe any meds. It seems like she was more concerned with a BV infection i had. I would think Herpes is more serious than BV, why is she keep telling me theres nothing to worry about and i don't need to take any meds? I'm so confused please help me understand this disease.
The HSV-1 and HSV-2 thing is not true. HSV-1 is not HSV-2. If you were tested using a type specific igg testing then we would have to ask for the results. I think that you had incorrect testing before that said you have HSV-1 and HSV-2. The testing was an IgM test I bet which doesn't and can't tell the difference between the two types. Plus they aren't to be tursted.
The question I have what came back as HSV-2? Was it a lesion culture that did or blood work?
There is not a real way to tell if it is a new infection or an old one.
Your partner should be tested to know his status. Chances are you both have never been tested for HSV.
Yes if you get cold sores you have herpes it is common about half the adult US population has it. Let's find out what tested positive and we can go from there.
Thank you for your reply. It was just a blood test that was performed. She did say there is no way to tell how long you may have had it. I had her check previous blood work i had for STD's less than one yr. ago and it don't show positive for hsv because she didn't test for it.
If you call and get the results of your blood test to post here, I'll gladly look at it. All you need to post are the actual numeric results - e.g. hsv1 igg 5.9 and hsv2 igg 2.9 or whatever they are.
your current partner will also need tested to see what his status is. you two can't make educated decisions about what precautions to take together until you know who has what.
bv makes herpes more active. Not unusual for herpes to flare up when you have bv. You never ever have to treat herpes if you don't want to. it'll go away on its own. treating it just makes it heal faster.
could the anal issues you've been having been due to hsv2? they could be. At this point all you can do is the next time they reoccur, be seen and get a lesion culture done within 48 hours of their appearance if you want to know for sure.
