HSV-1 and Oral Sex, also HSV=2 question

Hello,

I recently discovered I have HSV-1. I am a male, and am in a relationship with a girl. Things are moving along and I am concerned with passing it to her genital area. How likely is this? What are the odds? Do I need to tell her about this? If she has hsv-1 what are the odds of us spreading it to each others genitals?

Also, what are the odds of contracting Genital HSV2 without having sex and the fact that I have hsv-1.

Thank you! I've been told my infection was old.

You could pass the infection by giving her oral sex or by kissing. The odds are low but definitely not zero.
I would go get tested together and then discuss everything. If she has oral hsv1 then neither of you have anything to worry about as you will be immune from getting hsv1 anywhere else on your body.
Hsv2 is most always a genital infection and sexual Intercourse is the only realistic way to contract it.
