HSV-1 or canker sore?

Hello, I've asked a couple similar questions, but those were when I was asymptomatic so I wanted to ask again. Negative for HSV-1 as of April 2016 and negative for HSV-2 as of July 2016. No new partners, kissing or otherwise since either test.

"Risks" were

- Drank from a straw of stranger shortly after her by accident. Didn't notice anything on her mouth but didn't look very hard (early June 2016)
-Used my sisters lipstick that she hadn't used "in a couple months" She didn't use it before me and I may have wiped (June 24 2016)
-Shared a straw with a friend. Waited at least a minute after he used it. He had nothing on his mouth, I looked very closely (July 29, 2016)

Today is August 18th and I noticed this afternoon what looks like a canker sore. Top half of teeth, on the gum between the lip and the teeth back by upper molars. Looks white at the center and red around the outside. Could this be a cold sore? I am going to health services tomorrow for a TB test and may have them look. Also, should I get another antibody test just to cure my worry? I feel like I am always going to have some sort of event or something that triggers my anxiety and if I give in to the anxiety and get the test again, then I will get the test all the damn time...

Thank you for your time.

Every igg test will have a value. Anything under a .90 is negative. You could take another test if you want.
The western blot from the University of Washington is the most accurate test available.
Even if the igg hsv1 test misses some infections it is still 80% or so. The odds are in your favor.
No cracked corners in winter conditions do not suggest hsv at all. Either does the sore you currently have. The mouth gets many bumps and sores. To think they are all going to be hsv will drive you nuts. Nothing you have described makes me think hsv at all.

Ok, thank you. I just got the email about the excessive posting, so I will stop now. Thank you again for your help and reassurance.

I guess I would also trust the test result more if I didn't have this sore on the inner upper lip of my mouth right now...

So, is there a more reliable test? Or should I retake the blood test? If my number is at a certain level (like how it was 0.00 for the HSV-2) is it safe to say it was a true negative? Is two negatives more reliable too?  I just know for my own piece of mind I need a test result which is why I got it in the first place, but now I'm hearing that that test may have missed it...

So the cracked corners aren't cold sores then? Are they angular cheilitis?

The reason sights list things like straws and what not are more for small children who's immune systems are poor. Your odds of contracting hsv from a straw is very slim to none. Healthy adults shouldn't be overly concerned with sharing a straw.
Obviously if you see someone with a cold sore then pass on the drink.lol

Igg tests for hsv1 can miss infections at a rate of about 1 in 10.
Some studies suggest it can miss more than that but not a ton of research has been done on the subject.
Cracked corners of the mouth are very common in the winter months. I get them as well. Living in Chicago my lips are always dry, chapped and cracking in the winter.
Like is said, don't worry so much. Live your life and enjoy it and the people you meet.

It's not hsv from any of the exposures you list. What you describe and location are not typical of hsv. I would have the clinicians take a look tomorrow. You seem to be overly worried about this and it really seems to be effecting your life. You may need to talk with someone as I suspect that every exposure with new partners will lead to constant stress and anxiety. Not a healthy mix. Not to mention the irrational fear of objects that will not carry the virus for more than a few minutes.

I know, I am looking into speaking to someone about it. I just don't know if that will help, but it is worth a shot I guess. Well, if it can carry for a few minutes, wouldn't a straw be able to transmit? If not then why do so many sites mention sharing utensils and straws is bad? lastly, How reliable are the IgG specific tests? I read somewhere that the HSV-1 can have lots of false negatives. Mine wasn't a test for a recent exposure (I had been getting blood cracks at corners of mouth for many years in winter and always thought they were cold sores). So it would have been an established HSV-1 and it was negative. The HSV-2 antibody was 0.00 (1.5 year after the events).
Both were blood tests (IgG) I just don't know what the index was for the HSV-1.

Also, I have been very stressed and have had a sore throat off and on for the past couple weeks and am not getting much sleep.
