I do not know what type of testing she had in July.
She says that her test this week was a culture test from the genital lesion she currently has. She said that her lip lesion was scabbed so that they did not do a culture test from that lesion. She say that she did have addition blood drawn, but I do not know the type of test her blood will undergo.
My test in Dec, I assume was IqG, Iqm. Does that ring a bell? I'm looking at the current Lab Order form I got from my MD today so that I can retest in a week or so.
I've offered to share my test data with her...she's avoiding showing hers to me. So..I doubt if I can get a definitive Name of test type...but I will try.
You don't want the herpes igm test -it's a total waste of time and money. Just ask them to do the herpes igg blood test when you go and save your money. I can help you with your results when you get them.
Cold sores are almost always hsv1. Can your gf recall a history of cold sores before?
Also did she get her swab test results back to see that they are actually hsv2 or at this point is it all just assumed it's hsv2 because it's genital?
Also she said she got test results that say HSV2 after the swab test. But...in my opinion she assumes it's HSV 2 becuz of location.
I hate to sound like a bad BF..but...we live 400 miles away..I can not CONFIRM she even has a sore on her genitals. It seems to me from what I've read that HSV 2 is spread by others who have HSV2 and NOT from your own HSV 1 cold sore passed by your BF.
Hsv1 never turns into hsv2 just because it's below the belt. Hsv1 stays hsv1 regardless of if it's transmitted to the oral area, genital area or even the fingers.
A long distance relationship does make it hard. Even harder yet if she's not being very helpful with her testing.
You can have hsv1 orally and not have it show up on the blood tests unfortunately. Even the best blood tests still miss 1 out of every 10 hsv1 infections. Once you have your own results it'll be helpful for you a little more for your end of things.
ok...your 1st paragraph above is very helpful..and nearly music to my ears! lol
The last paragraph...ouch. But if that is the truth..then I'll be even more vigilant about my testing. I have to take into account that even though I have tested neg for HSV 1..it's possible I DO have the virus and passed it on to her.
Since my GF claims that she has a positive HSV2 test (and is adamant about the validity) but we KNOW that HSV 1 never turns to HSV 2...she is either lying about this test...or lying about being a carrier before. sigh...
actually dr house at this point would still be scoffing at the simplicity of the situation at this point and wouldn't want to be bothered ;)
Ask your gf how she was tested for herpes in july. If it was just her routine pap test, that's not std testing. Also ask her more details about the lesion culture she recently had and its results.
GF is not too forthcoming about any of this...which to me points to some mental game playing on her part, hence the need for Dr. House. Medically..simple...human motivationally(i made a new word!)...shadows and fog.
My md said much the same yest when I discussed all the available details.
I will continue to seek out more details from her. I'm expecting more stonewalling. In any case, you've been a wonderful way to get info, thx!
there is a pretty obvious answer to all your questions.. we know hsv1 does not turn into hsv2 although you can have hsv1 genitally... basically it sounds like she cheated on you and the fact that she is playing mind games as you say makes this even more likely.
yes...I've wondered about the possibility of her cheating. It's possible. The other scenario that is also possible is that there is NO lesion on her genitals...but she is saying there is...to force a break up.
That is my theory of choice at the moment.
If she continues to state HSV 2 ON GENITALS...then she is either making it up...or she had HSV 2 to begin with.
If the MD gave her incorrect info, i.e. it IS HSV 1 on genitals...then...she still has some explaining to do about the HSV 1 appearing on her lip after Neg tests in July from her and Dec from me(which by the way was AFTER a weekend get together we had in Oct.)
And, it's still possible that despite my neg test in Dec...that I have the HSV 1...but then that would mean only that I helped her have HSV 1 below the belt...
...so as you can see..something is not quite adding up. I do love a mystery.
