Ok I have gotten cold sores since I can remember. Most likely I got the infection by sharing makeup with my mom who gets cold sores too. We both get maybe one a year. I have been married to my husband for 5 years and he had never gotten a cold sore before. When I get a cold sore we are always careful to avoid kissing, oral sex
, and sharing chapstick or drinking glasses. He however got his first cold sore this week so I am thinking he may have picked up the virus from me even though I do not currently have a cold sore. Neither one of us has genital herpes but my worry is that now that we have both had a cold sore, is it possible or likely that we could give genital HSV-1 to one another through oral sex
even if there is not an active cols sore on our mouths? I would appreciate an informed answer as I would like to keep that from happening or if I even have a reason to worry. Thank you!
