HSV 1 to gential(genital) herpes

Hi, So yesterday i gave oral sex to my bf and i had a cold sore, it is a mild outbreak and hardly visible.  I had been using medication to treat it for maybe a day.  I have gotten cold sores before though i am not sure about my bf.  How worried should i be that i gave him gential (genital) herpes?  Thanks

this is a high risk of transmission if he doesn't already have hsv1 himself.

definitely talk to him about this if you haven't already.

How will i know for certain that he has or doesnt have HSV 1 and how long should I wait to have any sexual relations with him?

he can get a type specific herpes igg blood test to see what his status is if he can't recall ever having had a cold sore before himself.

If he doesn't notice any symptoms within the next week or two, odds are he didn't contract it genitally from you.

you need to wait .  he'll also need tested so you know in the future how worried you need to be.
