HSV-1........what next

Hi I am hoping you can help me.

I have been having vaginal symptoms including, burning, prickling, itching, discharge, swelling and redness, the redness in not all over just in certain areas. I originally thought I had hpv when i shaved the genital area and found some growths on the outside of the vaginal area where the hair grows. I later found some inside just around the opening. I had them caterized and one sent away to be checked and it came back as vestibular papilomatosis which I`m told is a normal and some times happens during premenapause. After the caterization I discovered I had these bumps around my anus which I was told were hemroids. I have never had hemroids before but I thought maybe because of the pushing during the carterzation iit is a possiblity. I also know that sometimes hemroids can be confused with herpes.
I am now convinced that is what I have.
I have had an IgG blood test done and it came back positive for HSV-1 which I think I have in the genital area. Because of my symtoms and my extreme depression the doctor agreed to put me on Valtrex before the results came back.
I stayed on it as supressive because the test results took a long time to come back almost a month. When the doctor told me it was HSV-! and not HSV-2 I went off the Valtrex and feel the symptoms returning.  I should also mention I haven`t had any sexual relations of any kind for about 3 years but I do realize it can stay dormant in your body.
1. Does Valtrex treat a variety of viral infections or only HSV1
2. I realize an accurate test result isn`t until 6 months. Because I have been sexually inactive when should I be retested.
3. I want to stay on Valtrex because I am SOOO concerned that somehow I will pass it on to my daughter but I am also afraid it will affect my future test results, will this happen. Because the first thing the doctor asked me before initiating the blood work was did you start the Valtrex yet. I don`t know if it affects the antibodies that the test is looking for.
4. I keep noticing little cuts appearing on my hands could that be the herpes virus spreading around.
5. If you are on Valtrex as a suppressive when I come off will I get an outbreak.
6. Is it possible this occasional pricking I am feeling is just healing due to the carterization because I was pretty black and blue down there.

Thanks so much for taking time to read through all this. I have read your previous posts and you seem so knowlegable.

no your 10 year old won't spread her hsv1 all over her body as you've described. she should follow up with her pediatrician if she gets the chest rash again.

she can take herpes antivirals for her cold sores but she needs the proper dose for her weight prescribed from her doctor.   topical zovirax ointment isn't very effective.

hsv1 genitally doesn't reoccur very often.  odds are what is going on, isn't hsv1 related.

stop the valtrex. when you get a return of symptoms, be seen within 48 hours of their appearance for a lesion culture and typing.  Unless you get a + hsv result with your lesion culture, no reason to continue on the valtrex at this point.

I removed your other post since it was confusing not being attached to this post. Just keep adding updates/questions to this post, not make a new one each time - thanks!
