HSV 2 Antibodies Present, But Negative...How?
I've been tested 3 times for HSV 2 using the IGG test and these were the results:

Nov 2011: 0.93
Jan 2013: 1.23
April 2013: .06

I came up barely positive in January 2013, but negative/equivocal the other times. I will gladly accept that I am negative for HSV 2, but WHY do I have antibodies for the virus if I supposedly don't have it? To have antibodies would mean there had to have been a trigger, right?

we know that having hsv1 is a factor in the false positives on hsv2 testing. probably other factors but we can't pinpoint them at this point.

Thanks for the response, Grace. Do you know why testing positive for HSV 1 can result in a false positive for HSV 2?
