HSV 2 IGG Herpeselect w/ Reflex to Inhibition issues?

HSV 2 IGG Herpeselect w/ Reflex to Inhibition issues?

I had this test done by Quest on 12/10/10 and the result was negative at 0.77 and then I was tested again with a positive result of 1.17 on 1/24/11. Prior to this I had a regular Herpeselect that had a positive score of 1.13. I am totally confused to say the least and fighting to get the Western Blot done since my doctor seems to know nothing about it. I have had no outbreaks or symptoms to think I may have it. My two questions are why do my results for the inhibition test look no different than those of the regular Herpeselect and what are my chances of being a false positive?

also did they give you a % for the inhibition assay?

I don't think they did the inhibition assay on you then. sounds like they just repeated the herpeselect.

your partner needs tested too.

it appears they didn't send the inhibition half of the test to my doctor so they are checking with quest to get that and what i need to do get the western blot. what a mess!

well i finally got he western blot done and it was negative for type 1 and positive for type 2. :( i am shocked as i still have had no a symptoms and neither have the two people that are suspect since my negative test in april 2010. i am working on them getting tested asap. it amazes me that men do not seem too worried about it and a bit in denial i guess. if they do come up negative, what is the possiblity this was dormant and not picked on the herpeselect tests i had done in april 2010 and 2009? and should i redo the western blot or accept this? i am stressed!

get your partners tested at this point and go from there - start easy :)

the one old partner refuses to get tested which totally blows my mind and upsets me at the same time. he isn't concerned he says since it's not a big deal and doesn't seem concerned at all that he could be passing it on to others without knowing his status. claims if he doesn't know then he can't be blamed. i'm appauled! not sure how someone can live with themselves honestly. :(

so that now leaves my boyfriend which his fully aware of everything and the risks and doesn't seem to care either and is in no hurry so get tested. i was really hoping to find out how i got this, but it's not looking like that will be the case at this rate. if my boyfriend is negative i know the more time that passes he could get it from me.

i am filled with sadness....

grab the  current bf by the ear and march his butt down to the clinic to get tested?  It's uncaring of him to know that this is important to you and he's not being helpful by getting tested himself :(

Wow, I feel for you.  As if it isn't hard enough finding out you have herpes, men have to go and make it harder :(  Hope you're ok.
