HSV 2 IGG postive, is it dangerous?

Hi,
before I got married, I did a herpes test and it showed that My IGG is postive, IGM negative, is it dangerous for me to get pregnant?, and I'm concern about how can i get a positive IGG HSV 2 as I never had sex before?, I remembered I got a very bad look alike chicken pox when I was kid, can it be the cause that my HSV 2 IGG is positive?

thanks

The Western Blot is what you are referring to.  I wouldn't go for that test as it is expensive.  Plus it isn't for this stage for your testing.

You should get a type specific igg test.  Your provider needs to order the type specific esting.  If your provider doesn't know they need to call their lab and find out what test they need to order.

Do not allow them to order the igm testing.  If they argue tell them to read the CDC 2010 guidelines.

Thank you Grace. I will repeat my tests. what tests should I get done. any recommendations. I spent 200 on my last tests that were worthless and I don't want to spend more on worthless tests. I heard something about a plot test. is it a good test and where can I ask for it.

none of the testing you've had done so far was of any help at all :(

your herpes igg test was a combined test which tells you absolutely nothing about your status. You'll need to repeat your herpes testing in order to find out your hsv1 and hsv2 status. Your provider absolutely can not tell you you have hsv1 and hsv2 both from the test you had done.

the herpes igm test is a greatly flawed test and current CDC recommendations are that it not be drawn on adults for the purpose of diagnosing herpes.  Your provider erred in ordering this test also.

encourage your provider to better update their herpes testing knowledge. If they are diagnosing patients based on these 2 tests, then they are practicing malpractice which is not in their best interest or their patients!

Hello. I just want some clarification
my HSV I/II IgG came 34.6
and my
HSV IgM combination came 2.44

what do these numbers mean. the doctor told me I have both HSV1,2. I have never had any symptoms and my partner's results came back negative

what should I understand from these results?

I can best help you if you can get the results of the blood test you had done and post them here - ie hsv1 igg 4.4 and hsv2 igg 1.2 or whatever they are.
