It's well worth the cost if he really doesn't have hsv2 so that you don't have to worry about it.
You can contract hsv2 from oral sex but the risk is low. If you are concerned about it, use a condom when you perform oral on him.

Hi Grace
I know that using protection is the best bet, however I am still left to wonder about the risk of transmission of hsv-2 via oral sex in our situation. Either being the giver or reciever. Is there any information out there on couples who are going through the same thing and may want to share there experiences. Not sure what to do as additonal testing would be costly with no insurance.
Thanks again
His hsv2 is a low positive so since he's never had any genital symptoms, he needs to confirm it with additional testing. We recommend either the herpes WB or the herpes biokit hsv2 test.
If he does have hsv2 it's most likely genital so kissing him isn't an issue.

Hi Grace
These are his numbers as follows:
HSV-1 Igg specific: 2.22
HSV-2 Igg specific: 2.79
What is the reference range for this test?
I read the handbook and I am still confused.
What about kissing and the transmission of hsv-2,since I am already
pos for hsv-1?
I appreciate all your help and information.
Thanks again
Your partner needs to confirm his hsv2 status to make sure that he doesn't need additional testing. can you get him to call and get his numeric results for you to post here for me to look at? ie hsv1 igg 4. 5 and hsv2 igg . 23 or whatever they are is all I need to see to make sure he doesn't need additional testing.
The herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com is a free resource that will answer all your questions and more I think. Give it a read and then ask any questions you still have and I"ll gladly help you both with them :)
